Summer Explosion
This summer is still heating up and you do not want to miss out!
It’s hard to express just how busy things have been this summer. From major client projects to residencies and shows, summer 2026 has been packed! Here’s everything you need to know to keep up with Brimstone Studios and to embrace your inner monster. 😈
Projects
If you haven’t caught wind on social media, I have been lucky enough to land some major client work this summer. It’s put some publishing kinks in Violet 9 and This is My Private Life, but they’ll be back in the fall! Let’s dig into some of the big projects I’ve tackled that you can get your hands on in the coming weeks.
Big Guns Stupid Rednecks
Big Guns Stupid Rednecks is a comic series by Austin Hamblin, and it’s coming to comic shops near you as a trade paperback! In the trade there are several pinups, including one from me, which I couldn’t be more excited for!
If you’re in the Sioux Falls area on July 25, drop into Rainbow Comics to catch Austin and I from 11am - 3pm for a signing of the book with limited release pinups!
Heavy Metal
What will likely rank as my crowning achievement of 2026 is this summer’s Extreme Futurism edition of Heavy Metal Magazine. I was excited, honored, and downright floored to have the opportunity to create two short stories for the issue. It hits shelves at bookstores and comic shops world-wide on August 26. Grab a copy and tell me what you think!
If you’re in or near Sioux City, or Sioux Falls, I’ll be doing signings of Heavy Metal!
Catch me at Starfighter Comics, in Sioux City, on August 26th from 5pm - 8pm for a launch day signing.
Those of you in Sioux Falls can find me at Rainbow Comics on August 29th from 11am - 3pm for a hometown signing. You won’t want to miss this.
CARtoon Magazine
Working again with Austin Hamblin, I had the opportunity to create a two page comic for CARtoons Magazine. We put together something simple, charming, and comedic that will probably make even your grandparents laugh. Our issue is slated to drop mid-August. We’ll be sure to get you all the details as they solidify.
Events
If three signings aren’t enough, I am preparing for three weekends bookending a solid two weeks on the road. This trip will be one leg solo and one leg as a crew across approximately 3,300 miles.
Squonkapalooza
The first stop in this end of summer whirlwind is Johnstown, PA, for Squonkapalooza. What’s a squonk, you ask? It’s Pennsylvania’s cryptid filled with wrinkles, warts, and a sad demeanor. We’ll be kicking off Squonkapalooza on July 31st with evening pre-gaming that features Dylan’s Drink & Draw! The themes will be Cryptids & the 80’s. Then, on Saturday, August 1st, we’ll squonk it up all day and I’ll debut a new monstrous pinup!
Grand Forks Comic Con

Jetting back to the Midwest, I’ll be teaming up with Travis Bentley & Dave Wheeler for a northern plains two state tour. Grand Forks Comic Con kicks off this tour in Grand Forks, ND. We’ll be slinging prints and comics, hosting panels, and hosting another Dylan’s Drink & Draw!
Excalibur Con
From North Dakota to Minnesota, the three of us will blast off toward Duluth for Excalibur Con, Duluth’s fastest growing treasure. Of course, it all starts with Dylan’s Drink & Draw, but we’ll be teaming up on panels and I’ll be debuting a new merman print.
Charting Course
Typically, this is the Recommended Reading section where I plug some recent juicy stuff from Fighting the Good Fight. However, this time around, I’m trying something a bit different. The rest of this newsletter will continue over on Patreon where you can read a more intimate continuation about my plans for this summer excursion…
(If you cut and run here, thanks for reading. I hope I see you somewhere during all this madness!)
